I am looking for a more natural alternative to the plastic style containers for warming up food and sending food with DH for work. I can't send him with glass. I also need to find safer alternatives for feeding my DC. I NEED unbreakable plates etc for their curious little hands. Please help.

Have you thought about trying wood or bamboo for your DCs?

Corningware containers (I guess the material is ceramic?) are not strictly unbreakable, but they're pretty hard to break. That's what I use for lunches at work. They microwave well and are easy to wash, much easier than plastic, esp. for oily and tomatoey and cheesy foods. I haven't broken or even chipped one yet; it's been several years, and I have dropped them or smacked my lunch bag into a hard surface many times.

Corningware makes dishes called Corelle that you could use at home. Tempered glass is another good option. Again, they will break if you really whang them hard, but accidentally bumping one off the counter onto the floor tends to result in it sort of bouncing.
