I finally got Fertility Friend to pick up on ovulation this morning when I entered my data. But I am not sure it is right!

I woke up in the middle of the night about 4 hours before taking my temp for CD13. My stomach felt very full, I felt gasy, and had some pains similar to cramps. I did not get out of bed, but my temp was 99.05 when DW stuck the thermometer in my mouth that morning. I immediately took an OPK and it came back positive. I was so excited b/c that was the first time I ever pinpointed ovulation. I cannot tell you how happy I was!

Now Fertility Friend says I did not ovulate until CD16 and tht was only detected today (CD21) after entering my data. I did not do another OPK after the positive on CD13.

Is it possible that I could have had an OPK positive on CD 13 and not ovulated until CD16? I am only in my second month of charting and this is the first that I am really trying to be aware of my body.

Is it possible? Normal? I thought that women usually ovulated a day after getting a positive opk.....?

It is possible you could have that kind of a delay. Generally, you ovulate sometime between 12 and 36 hours after you get your first positive on an OPK. So if you took it mid morning on CD 13, then you may not have O'd until late CD 15.

IMO, by looking at your chart, it's more likely you O'd on CD 15. That was your lowest temp, and the following days, your CM dried up. FF tends to calcuate O date by looking for three days of high (above coverline) temps and taking the last day before that rise. You can change the way it calculates your O date though, but going to tuning/over-ride under your chart, and switching from advanced (the default) to FAM or OPK.

Also, if you find that FF continues to give you dates that don't really jive with what you know to be true for your body, you may want to consider double charting, either with ovusoft or even on paper following guidelines from TCOYF or another similar book.

Either way - it looks as if you definitely O'd this month - and that's a good thing!

Fertility Friend is a crappy computer program. :

No, seriously though, FF is just a tool, out of many, for keeping track of your cycles. Just because a computer program says something doesn't make it true.
Looking at your chart, you probably ovulated on CD14 or 15. CD14 is when you still had really fertile looking mucus, CD15 it was already drying up. But your temp didn't rise until CD16... but you can ovulate between 2 days before or 1 day after temp rise. Combining all your symptoms, I would say you ovulated on CD14.

OPK should not be used with FMU unless they tell you to do so on the instructions. It is very possible that you ovulated 3 days after you got the + especially if you didnt keep doing opk after you got it.

The reason why is The presence of increased amounts of LH, as detected by OPK's usually means that you will ovulate within 12-24 hours. LH is not released all at once, but rather it rises and falls for 24-48 hours. The LH rise usually begins in the early morning while you are sleeping and it takes 4-6 hours for it to appear in your urine after that. For this reason, first morning urine (FMU) may not give the best result. It is important to follow the instructions of your OPK for maximum results.
When I got pg with ds I had 3 days of + opk I would test at around 12 it would be + then again 4 hours later neg then again the next day around 12 + then a few hours later neg etc etc.

That is why I tell everyone if you can at all do at least 2 opk a day and keep doing opk for a few days after you get that first + because you can get multiple + and not O until after the last + I hope that makes sence.

I agree FF is just a crappy computor program and I would have used rule of thumb and not even used that 99 degree temp anyway it's not within the realm of normal with your other temps. I go with cd15 as your O day judging by your opk and your temps. 12-36 or even 48 hours is withing the realm of normal O time from a + opk.
