I trying to make space for the baby - who is now 10 weeks old - I inventoried my UFO shelf. This is JUST sewing projects, mind you. It excludes knitting, crotchet or anything oddball - lace making, shoe making.<br><br>
OK - 20 years worth of sewing ..... There are at least 60 UFOs! I'm issuing myself a challenge to finish one object a week for the next year. That should clear out my backlog.<br><br>
I'm part of the SCA, so almost all of these are medieval clothing, but I have a handful of modern things I never finished. Somethings are easy - like I cut a tunic for someone and then determined it was completely the wrong size so I never finished the neckline and put it on the shelf. Others are more complicated and some just won't fit me. Part of "finishing" an object could be giving it to someone whom it will fit and will finish it.<br><br>
Anyone want to join me?<br><br>
I've got almost all of them in a large tub now. I've also told myself I'm only allowed to have 5 WIP out at any given time. One for each member of my family plus one "other."<br><br>
Some of my stuff is over 20 years old - started when I was in college. What have YOU got stuffed away? Anyone got things older? Anyone care to find out if they have more?

Unfortunately, most of my UFOs are that way because something went so horribly wrong with them that it's not going to be fixed.<br><br>
My major UFO was an Elizabethan. Solved that one by giving the whole bin away including boning and lucet. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngbiggrin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="orange big grin">

You could prorate your time since it is late May and continue along with us. i thought i was bad about this because i have 3 quilt tops i finished like 5 years ago that i still haven't quilted. i also have i think 3 different single slippers that weren't fitting right so i didn't do the other and the most darling blue and green suede baby shoe- one complete, and super small, the other cut out and prepped. actually, there are other pairs of baby shoes cut out and not complete, along with many other things, too. and like saphire chan said, some are so screwed up that they aren't going to be finished as is. i just chunked a baby dress, mostly finished, to the scrap bag for 1 less ufo, lol.<br>
also, i have recently inherited stash and ufo's (which i am making into fo's) from great grandmothers. among other things, i have 20 beautiful birds patched by my great grandmother maybe 50 years ago (or less, i really don't know)...i am hoping to get these on a quilt before too many more years passes<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/innocent.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="shy">
