Is it safe to eat it during pregnancy?

I have been. It's organic, it's local, it tastes SO GREAT. I feel pretty comfortable with the brand and am willing to take the risk, which I feel must be no more than my risk of eating lettuce at any local restaurant, you know?

They say to avoid it because of the risk of it being contaminated with Listeria bacteria, but I think like Minnow said, it all depends on whether you trust the source.

It's whatever brand they sell at our natural food co-op. It's not local - still from CA, but not local. It says on the package they've been manufacturing natural cheese since 1921. I guess they're trustworthy <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/shrug.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="shrug">. I've been fine so far - I just realized today that it might be on their "do not eat" list.

I think as long as yu know and trust the source, it is fine. I am still eating raw cheese and milk and I think it tastes great and I feel great as well. I do think that knowing the source is important.<br><br>
And that it is important for the other food you eat as well. Go local.
