Ok, so I finished my first soaker project today! Yay! But it looked really funky so I unraveled it. :LOL The rise came up to DSs arm pits, and the waist & legs were just a tad loose. I knew I would never use it if I kept it so I just unraveled the whole thing and my wool is now on a piece of cardboard drying. Tell me I am not the only one who has done this!

I would have loved to have kept it but I have so much clutter in my house right now, and we are moving to England soon so I am planning on doing a good clearning out and I don't want extra junk. KWIM? Anywho, I know what mistakes I made so I can avoid them in the future. I made the rise like 2 inches too long and the legs where about 2 inches too small, so I tried to make the legs bigger by just knitting more rows in the crotch... it looked really funky and I wouldn't have subjected my son to wear it. :LOL

Did you use a pattern? My first two didn't fit very well, but I'd used a pattern so it was a matter of making the necessary adjustments for my child - there's no reason why someone else couldn't use them. I hate clutter too, so I plan to sell or give them away. I don't think I could rip them out, but then again, I used boring yarn (gray) just so I wouldn't be tempted to rip them out just to save my pretty yarn.

I used the LTK pattern with the pretty green varigrated yarn. It is so pretty I wouldn't want to waste it and with the time it took me to make it I wouldn't want to sell it (took like 4 weeks since it was my first project). There weren't too many flaws but it was really funky looking, lol. The reason I learned to knit was so I could use the stuff.

One time I knitted up soakers for a friend of mine on another board... she sent me a pic of her DD in it and it DID go up to her armpits!! But keep trying. You will prevail!!

Since I responded here yesterday...I now have a soaker I'm contemplating ripping out. It wasn't made according to a pattern, and it really is kind of funky. If I knew what kind of kid it would fit well, I might try to sell it. It's only black yarn, and I only spend $5.50 on the yarn. We'll see. Maybe if I run out of yarn or get tired of having that soaker in my way...
