The support thread has inpired me to learn as much as I can about the unschooling/radical unschooling philosophy.

So many people have different ideas about it. I would LOVE to read more!

Please post any resources you think would be of interest. Books, blogs, websites....I am game!

Thanks!

Are you meaning "educational tools resources"?

the Web
People
Books of all kinds, no restrictions to the type of book used
computer cdRoms
visual media
audio media
I'm sure there are more I'm not thinking of at this time, these are not necessarily in this order of usage on any particular day.

I really like Dumbing Us Down, by John Taylor Gatto, and The Teenage Liberation Handbook, by Grace Llewellyn. Those are the ones that really sold me on the practicality of unschooling.

The two resources that inspired us the most about radical unschooling were:

- Rue Kream's book, "Parenting A Free Child". You can read a review of the book here http://theparentingpit.com/reviews/rue-kream*–-parenting-a-free-child/ (you might need to cut and paste the entire link, or if you get an error message find the review in the menu to the right under "quotes & reviews")

- Joyce's web site http://www.joyfullyrejoycing.com/ (someone posted this but it was her old url... this is her new one)

everyone recommends sandra dodds site which is great and *massive* but as we shifted to radical unschooling whenever i began to lose my nerve (often) i would go to joyces web site above.

Then of course the egroups. My favourite Radical Unschooling ones are the yahoo groups:
AlwaysLearning and AlwaysUnschooled. The discussion level on these are very high and stimulating.

Or there is unschoolingbasics (also a RU list) which tends to have more people making up their minds about RU and more of the basic questions as a result.

enjoy the journey!
I second the link dillonandmarasmom gave you called The Natural Child Project. I've gotten some of my best inspiration from here. Here is a list of fantastic articles about learning that I think you will get a lot out of. http://www.naturalchild.org/articles/learning.html

I also second - Joyce's fetterol's web site http://www.joyfullyrejoycing.com/
She's my hero.

I'd like stickies for people with older kids, and who already have a life philosophy of no spanking, respectful co-living etc.

More stickies for folks beyond the child- wearing stage. I need new reading material. Sitckies of places geared towards families with children who are 'school age'.

Once you wrap your brain around unschooling principles, there is nothing in the world like attending an unschooling conference and seeing with your own eyes and heart the JOY of the unschooled masses!
LIFE is Good (First PNW Unschooling Conference, in the spirit of L&L)
Live and Learn

Previous talks from the Live and Learn Conference are available at the L&L Shop
My all-time favorite audio aid is Sandra's Peaceful Parenting tape (she's updated the talk and will not be converting it to CD, but she's got some cassette tapes still available!)

The Unprocessed Child- Katherine Fitzenreiter
Unschooling Handbook-Mary Griffith
Magical Child-Joseph Chilton Pierce

I like these three books because "unschooling" is, for us, more about lifestyle than simply education. I like hearing the "whole story," so to speak.

I'm going to check out these links. Thanks, mama!
