Unusual garden pest

Our family dog! She keeps helping herself to tomatoes and cucumbers. I guess we have to get a better fence. At this rate we won't be harvesting any because she is stealing 3-6 green tomatoes a day. I have scolded her just this morning, she goes outside and I see her craning her neck beyond the fence we have now to get herself another! What a stinker. Fence day, I suppose.

That's funny! My mom's dog used to go strip her raspberry patch; luckily the berries were up in a raised bed and she could only reach so far.

Maybe you could make up a garlic and cayenne spray and spray the plants down a couple times (good for other pests too!) until she loses interest? Of course she may just feel like a lucky dog that her family cares enough to season the goodies...

How funny! I've never heard of a dog who eats tomatoes! But now that I think about it, ours probably would given half the chance!
That's funny! Is it making her sick at all? It seems like green tomatoes would be bad on the stomach...
Well, see, she doesn't really eat them, she just likes to pluck them and play with them. She has toys -- maybe some nice green tennis balls will fill the void that was tomatoe snatching!

She loves human food (we never feed her any but given half a chance she'll gobble up whatever is in reach), so the garlic and cayenne may just be tasty to her! We have food out for her 100% of the time, and it is high quality stuff, so I think she is just being a bum, and feeling playful in the tomato patch.

I can relate! Our corgi actually pulls up onions with his teeth and then eats them!!

Talk about dog breath...
