We have determined, through ED that DS is definitely sensative to Eggs, Dairy, Soy, and probably wheat. We're still trying to figure out the other problem foods. Because he's only getting the red splotches on his face, his Dr. doesn't seem concerned enough to test him. I am still soooooo confused by all of this stuff. It seems like none of the tests are terribly accurate, and a TED isn't even a sure thing (not to mention the torture and weight loss of it). And why is it that one day he seems fine with a food and the next he reacts? I'd been giving him a little saurkraut with each meal. He loved it and it was fine. Then one day he got red splotches everywhere from it. I feel like even though we've identified a few major foods, something changes or pops up that throws us off.

On to the yeast question. DS has developed a very awful looking rash. First it was in the crevices between his scrotum and legs, then it spread onto the scrotum and penis. Barrier cream did nothing, just made it look more dry. Moisturizing lotion also did nothing. From a google search I think it's a yeast infection, but I don't understand. He's on probiotics, he's eating no bread or wheat, the only sugar he gets is from the few fruits that seem to be safe for him. Doesn't this seem strange that he'd get a yeast infection right now? All the literature about how to treat the YI says probiotics, limit sugars, and OTC anti-fungal cream.

Strangely, I just got over a YI as well. I was equally confused by how I got it since I'm on the same diet. I guess yeast must just be around our house, but it really seems strange that we'd get it right now.

How old is you son? My son's first obvious external symptom was red face too, then the eczema spread to the rest of his body, oh, 2 months later. Yeast can co back and forth between mama and baby especially if you are nursing.Maybe you could post a close up of the rash. Have you been doing a meticulous diary diary? You neeed to in order to identify subtle changes that might have provoked a reaction.

He's 15 months, and still nursing. I've been keeping a food journal, I guess I'll go back through again to see if something jumps out. Are there specific things to look for as the culprits?

Any thoughts on how to treat a yeast rash?

Also, I just tested saurkraut again, and it was fine. I think it was a plastic bag and/or another food shortly after the 'kraut that caused the red splotches. BUT, if he's dealing with yeast, would the acidity of the 'kraut not make things worse?
