I've been interviewing for jobs for about 3 months. I've had 4 first interviews, 1 second interview and I haven't had an offer yet.

1st Interview-I'll admit it could have gone better, but they interviewed 7 people for 1 position and it went to an internal applicant

2nd Interview- went great, really sounded like she (manager) wanted to hire me. She tried to call HR several times during the interview to get me in that day. She ended up hiring someone with more experience.

3rd Interview- went great, introduced me to staff as a new employee, sent an employment rec to HR and HR said no, they wanted an internal hire.

4rd Interview- went ok (Interviewer wouldn't make eye contact, seemed nervous), but I was called back for a second interview with the people I would be trained by and work directly with. I thought the second interview went great. But they hired another person. They did ask if I was interested in per diem work and that there might be another full time position available in a month.

Last week I was called by the manager from the 2nd interview to ask if I was still interested in working there because there were new openings. She said she would let me know this week. I called yesterday and she said there is a meeting on Wednesday about hiring and she will let me know on Friday. Today she called me and asked if I would sign a 2 year contract if I was hired. I said yes.

I am so frustrated, I want an offer and a start date!

ETA: Every time I've interviewed in the past, I've been offered a job within a week or so of the interview!

I work in HR and it is totally normal.

Also, a lot of managers don't know how to interview so they act super interested and say things that make you feel like the job is yours only because they don't know how else to act.

Pernillep-since you are in HR could you answer more questions?

How many people are usually interviewed for a position?

How much say does HR have vs managers in hiring decisions?

Am I doing something wrong?

Any other tips from someone in HR?

Most of the applications I am submitting online application for each company's HR department. Sometimes I am emailing or faxing my resume to HR if that is what the job listing requests.

Thanks and if you could share any more insight to the process I would really appreciate it!
