Update on the stink

I combined several methods mentioned to me about washing my dipes in this thread and my diapers actually smell clean! I was so excited I almost cried when I pulled them out of the dryer today! Thanks so much to all who helped figure out how to make them smell good!

Alright, if you insist.

I did NOT do a soak at all. I did a hot wash with 1/2 cap detergent, 1/2 cup baking soda, and vinegar in a Downy ball. I peeked in on them in the rinse cycle and no suds! I didn't even have to do a 2nd rinse! I just threw them in the dryer and voila! They smell soooo good!

Thanks for the update. We are still tweaking here. I just found out that we have soft water so that isn't my issue. I think we are having build up issues.

I'll get it sooner or later.

Not to burst your bubble or anything, but won't an initial hot wash set in stains more?

I did an initial hot wash last night and had several poopy dipes in that load. No stains!

I never soak. ever. I do a cold rinse. A short cold wash with detergent and Calgon. A long hot wash. Thats it.

Does anybody know if you can get a water softener for just the laundry? Or does it have to be for the whole house? I thought water softeners are bad for you...
