Any reviews? Any good brands or brands to avoid?

I've been looking at this, specifically because our growing season is too short to be really sucessful at growing tomatoes. I've skimmed the container gardening thread here, but didn't find anything.

Also, I've heard that you can also grow bell peppers and cucumbers in these. I would love to be able to overwinter indoor tomatoes and cucumbers (and peppers, though to a lesser exent) and avoid cardboard supermarket produce.

My mom had one and it didn't work well. The tomatoes were tiny and she had to water it several times a day or it would dry out quickly. I think that was because the roots would just get baked by the sun and dried out easier. The plant also tried to upward and that might be why the tomatoes were so small. I don't know what brand she used because she threw it away after one season.

My mom had two and loved them. She has grown cherry and regular tomatoes in them with good results. She also had a problem with the plants drying out really quickly. The yield was less than in a typical garden, but she liked them enough she is using them again this year. I think there are some sites online that tell you how to make them yourself.
