Anyone know if eyedrops are absorbed in such a way that they get to breastmilk? My husband thought he had pinkeye but doesn't actually seem to. Now I am 90% I've got it. He has an unused prescription for Cipro-family antibiotic eyedrops. Cipro is apparently one of the abx that is questionable while BFing, BUT since it's going in my eyes, does it matter??

Yes, I know I should go to my own dr, but they are crazy busy, I am already sick and I don't want to drag my babe to an urgent care place. Ugh!

The medication is ofloxacin drops if anyone can do a Hale's check. Thank you!!!

(Or is there any other remedy for pinkeye???)

Also I couldn't find ofloxacin in Hale's book.

Ofloxacin is in the 2004 Hale's and is listed as L2 (on a 1-5 scale, L1 being safest). It is compatable with breastfeeding. In addition, very little, if any medication for topical use as eye drops gets into the bloodstream, so it is doubtful that it would be transfered into your milk in any relevant amount.
