Uses for flannel receiving blankets?

Cloth baby wipes, wash clothes or family cloth... diaper doublers...

I made diapers, wipes and mama pads out of receiving blankets. I think you could also make cute flannel jammies out of them if you have enough matching or coordinating ones.

oh and I could get the front abnd back body og the diaper and a cuople of wipes from each blanket.

I'd only recycle them if you NEED the fabric for something! (Recieving blankets are sort of sacred to me, I guess - I'm still using blankets that belonged to my brothers & sisters, and we always used them for our dolls, building tents & forts, dressup, and a million other things when growing up. IMO, they're much more useful & valuable intact!)

I lined one of my slings with a receiving blanket and made baby wipes with the rest.

I second the quilt idea, but don't put a batting in it. We received a fabulous flannel "quilt" at our baby shower. We quickly designated it our "car blankie" and it has become our all around "outing blankie." the flannel is thik enough to keep DS warm in our car, but it also serves as a sun shade, changing pad, and as swindbreak when walking him in the mei tei. I also use it to discreetly nurse in public. It isn't stuffy like a lot of quilts can be, and it folds up very easily.

I made "quilts" out of ours too, but also without batting. I sewed pairs together (so one strip, 1 blanket wide & 2 blankets long) and then put 2 strips wrong sides together and blanket-stitched all around the outside edges. I had 16 receiving blankets so we ended up with 4 of what I call "Frankenblankets." They're great for the car, park picnics, and lightweight bedding. I actually line the crib with one too -- keeps the baby farther away from the plastic on the mattress.

A friend of mine sewed her boys receiving blankets into pillows and then stuffed them, not too full, so they could continue using them for a long time. They make the perfect size little kid pillows, good for sleeping and throwing at each other.
