I thought I saw a post somewhere about using t-shirts etc to make diapers but I cannot find it. Has anyone tried this? Making diapers out of things they have laying around the house? I am SOOO broke but really want to give CD'ing a shot so was hoping I could whip something up with what I have on hand. I have bits of material here and there, a functional sewing machine (not surger), lots of old sheets and about 6 garbage bags full of clothes that don't fit me (I was hoping to get into them "eventually" since i outgrew them 6 years ago... lol)

Hi
I think this may be the one you are thinking of:

http://fernandfaerie.com/sewing_prefolds.html

Also, if you look through this entire pattern - especially under the soaker info - you can find out about different materials you may have at home that you can use.

http://www.geocities.com/rew4birth/Diapers.html

Finally, this one is also helpful for info on making fitteds with stuff from around the house.

http://mayna.livejournal.com/198548.html

You don't need a surger (thought it does make it look much prettier!) and that Mayna live journal really helped me when I first started sewing diapers (before a friend taught me what she knew) don't forget to get some plastic diaper covers at Wal Mart or somewhere so you don't have leaks if you aren't using PUL fabric.

Good Luck!

Those links are awesome, thanks so much! I would feel bad if I went out and bought material and messed it up (I'm still learning to sew straight ) but since I can use the things that I have here, and was just about to send to Goodwill anyways, its no big deal. Love that I can use t shirt material for some things too, as my mom is in the military and for some reason gets hundreds of "go army" variation shirts.
