Does anyone have any recommendations for a utah homebirth midwife? I will likely be living in Park City (or potentialy SLC) so Utah Valley based midwives probably won't work.

also, while on the subject, any Utah doula recommendations?

thanks!!

Congrats on your upcoming baby!!!

I only know of Utah Valley ones but they're great so if you don't end up finding one, let me know and I can give you a couple names and numbers.

Heather was my midwife too and she's wonderful. I can PM you a list of names and phone numbers of midwives who will go to Park City.

As far as doulas you can check out www.utahdoulas.org or go to the contact page at www.utahbirth.net to get some referrals for the area.

I had a lovely midwife for my three homebirths in Salt Lake. Her name is Raeann Peck. Very sweet, earthy lady! She helped me to see what birth was really about.

As for Heather, if I am correct, she actually assisted Raeann at the birth of one of my kids. If she is the same lady, she is awesome!

Both are very gentle and softspoken.

I remember with my first homebirth I was coming back to bed after a going to pee. I was hit with a huge contraction and squatted at the end of my bed to get through it. All of a sudden my body was pushing. I could do nothing to stop it, just had to ride it out. Instead of being yelled at like in the hospital, I was told I was doing wonderful!

In the midst of it all, I decided I was not moving any further and nothing could make me move. So instead of being forced to move (as one would be in the hospital) Raeann adapted and I delivered my daughter on the floor in my room.

Both women were great about my rather unconventional birthing and laboring places. With my son I was on my hands and knees on my stairs. LOL I did move to bith him though.

Fantastic ladies that I would trust my life with as well as my childs.
