One hour WAS too short, but, boy, was it good. Seemed a bit cowardly for the CDC to not have someone come on. I thought Jenny was great- Dr. Gordon, too. Dr. Karp seemed to soften his stance there a bit in the end. Anyone notice that? He actually said vaccines could be one contributing factor in his last statement.

I wish Larry would have let Hannah Polling's dad speak after Dr. Karp went on about the mitochondrial disorder thing. It was clear he did not agree with what Karp said, but he didn't get a chance to rebut. Too bad.

Hope Larry keeps this going and going...

I have more respect for Jenny McCarthy after I saw her on LKL. She didn't let those two docs get away with anything!

This sounds like the same show that aired a few weeks ago when the Poling case came out. Dr. Harvey Karp was on it and I was so shocked how he came across.. See I guess I never knew that the "The Happiest Baby on The Block" guy would be such a hard ass tauting the party line on vax's. I mean he seemed so rigid.. unable to admit there was any problem at all (dont split them up, dont delay) shaking his head when the family's with vax damage kids were talking. Honestly it made me throw his book right in the trash.

Since then I've learned his "happiest toddler" book advocates cry it out. ugh. i feel bad for people who have him as a ped (does he still practice?)

Anyway sorry for the thread drift there.. i've just been thinking about it ever since I saw him on LK.

Ditto, I couldn't believe that the same man who wrote "Happiest Baby in the Block" could have such a view point!

It was actually a different show- just had Karp on again. Jenny stayed on the entire time as a "cohost". I'm thankful she did, too. She kept them on their toes, that's for sure. Go Jenny!

Nope, doesn't look like it. I didn't see anything yet on the Larry King site either. Normally they put a clip, but not very much.

We watched it although I missed some parts (energetic toddler, imagine that). Jenny was great, so was Dr. Gordon although he was in between Jenny and the other doctors, maybe not the best place to be!

The one doctor from AAP (?) who was also on the recent Today show segment said basically, oh all this stuff is in the environment anyways (when Jenny asked him about ingredients). Whoa she went off on him for that, good for her. She said antifreeze though, wish she'd get that one right.

Transcript of the show is up:

KING: The CDC has sent us a statement which says, in part: "Parents who are watching your show tonight may have concerns about vaccinating their children and that's understandable.

However, they should know that current recommendations to vaccinate are based on years of scientific research by the world's foremost experts. If any parent out there is concerned, sit down and discuss your concerns with your child's doctor."

What do you make of that, David?

KIRBY: I agree with it. I wish the CDC would encourage parents earlier on, such as Hannah Poling's parents, gee, you might want to consider spreading out the vaccines. Now, they had no way of knowing that she was set up for failure and injury. She got compensated through the injury program.

We can't be afraid of this situation. We have to work to make it better.

KING: Do you agree with that statement by the CDC?

MCCARTHY: You know, they're...

KING: It looked like you didn't.

MCCARTHY: They seem to keep changing and softening. You know, I think -- I think they're realizing the tide has come in and now they're trying to hold back an ocean. And parents with -- you know, that are going into, you know, questioning vaccinations to their pediatricians -- the phone calls I get every week are, my pediatrician yelled at me and said, what, you don't trust me?

You need to trust me.
Well, our trust is broken. If people are listening to parents like us screaming at the top of our lungs this happened, of course, they're going to be scared.

I was so frustrated watching it last night with how Karp and the AAP dude kept saying the MMR has REPEATED been shown to not be linked to autism.

Okay. Even if you accept that (which I don't) PLEASE
show me the study that shows NONE of the other vaccines, individually and ESPECIALLY combined, are not linked to autism.

I absolutely loved it.

The best part was when Jenny yelled "bullshit!" at them. I was so suprised they didn't bleep it out, but good for them. That word needs to be said in this situation.

My parents freaked out when we told them we are selecting and delaying vax. 2 weeks later, they saw the first LKL show on vaccines. Now my dad is pretty much on board with me, but my mom is still pro-vax, pro-just-do-whatever-the-doctor-tells-you-to-do. Oh well. I'm really surprised the Larry King show managed to change my dad's mind! He doesn't waver very often in his opinion on things!

The above link is only for a 10 minute clip of the show, but at least there is the transcript available to read. Maybe someone will post the entire episode from last night on You Tube.

I agree about being totally dissappinted to find out Dr. Harvey Karp was pro-vax. What an idiot. I'll never give his swaddling book to anyone again.

Also, I can't believe they had Dr. Tayloe (President of the AAP) on in a pro-vax capacity since he has the largest vaccine injury malpractice settlement against him - $3.5 million!
