I have to have a cornea surgery in April. I've had it before in the other eye, and unfortunately, the issues I am having in this eye are just as bad, and I have to have the surgery so my cornea will stop coming off. Anyway... they give you a valium before the surgery so you can relax and not totally freak out. I didn't have it last time because I was 4 months prg- this time I am EBFing. Does anyone know what one valium will do? I can go without, but the surgery sucks and I am dreading it.

i don't know for sure, but i think the preferred drug of that type for nursing is ativan/lorazepam. i am prescribed these for anxiety/insomnia and take on an occasional basis. i read back when i started them that they were the preferred drug for immediate relief of anxiety, nursing-wise.

I had to take one for my lasik surgery - I ended up giving Levi pumped milk for 12 hrs after I took it - the first and only time he had a sippy cup (did not like the bottle..!)
