"A truly unique and wonderful individual, longtime intactivist Van Lewis passed away a few hours ago.

I cannot express in words how fortunate I feel the movement and the world were to be graced by his presence and humor.

Also, I feel blessed that I was able to count Van as a beloved friend for many precious years.

A remembrance of Van will appear in the next issue of our newsletter. We would welcome anyone who wants to write in with a memory, a photo,or anything else relating to Van to send it in. (If you do not want it published, or want it published anonymously, simply indicate that

Oh, dear! Wow, just wow! I know he helped educate countless parents and I bet many intact boys have him to thank. I'm so sad to hear the movement lost such a dedicated person. May he rest in peace.

I have few heros, he was one of them. A lovely man and a kind and gentle soul. He will live on in the work that I do. My children had the pleasure of meeting him and they will know him as a human rights pioneer!

At his memorial service, they mentioned that Van really didn't want to do this interview at first, because he was so sick. Then he thought, if it changes anyone's mind about circumcision, it will be worth it. He was fighting for the cause until the very end.
