Hi. My husband and I are about to move to Delaware from upstate NY. We have an 11 month old daughter who received her 2 month and 4 month vaccines, but nothing since. After her 4 month vax, she got very sick and ended up in the ER; they think it was a reaction to the pertussis component in the DTAP.<br><br>
Anyway, while not at all happy about it, our doc here has respected that I keep saying no to vaccines for now. I want to delay them until she is older and then will split them up on a schedule that I'm more comfortable with. Our daughter is not in daycare and the only babysitters she has are her grandparents.<br><br>
So with our upcoming move to Newark, I need to find a new vaccine friendly ped/family doc for our daughter and also for our second child who will be arriving next month. I will not be vaccinating her at all until she is older because I'm fearful of seeing that same reaction and ending up in the hospital again.<br><br>
Any advice on who to see (or to avoid) would be much appreciated.<br><br>

I don't know any pedis in Newark, but I love my pedi in Kennett Square, PA. It's just over the PA/DE border, maybe 15-20 minutes from Newark. Henry has only had the DT vaccine and she's been ok with me not vaxing him. Feel free to pm me if you want her info!

Dr. Borin with Kids First in North Wilmington. I do delayed vaxing, maybe one every few months, he is fine with that. I think he would be ok with not vaxing. I asked him what his reaction would be if we did not want to vax at all and he was reasonable about it. He would be about 20-30 minute drive from Newark.

I though he would be retired by now!

Funny!! He was my DH's ped too. At first I was afraid he would be like 100 years old or getting ready to retire, but not the case. My DH works with his daughter so he got the scoop. that's DE for you!

Thank you both so much for the input. Kennett Square is not that far from where we will be in Pike Creek/Hockessin so maybe that doc will be an option.<br><br>
Are both doctors (the one in Kennett Square and Dr Borin) relatively easy to reach in terms of scheduling appts? Being a new patient and knowing that my midwives will require our new daughter to be seen by a ped 48-72 hours after birth, I just want to make sure I can get in so that I can still do my out-of-hospital birth. So much going on before the move!!<br><br>

Dr. Marsh is great - I've never had a problem getting either of my boys in. When Henry was born she was actually trying to get me to bring him in sooner than I did lol. And I've never had to wait for an appointment - I hate waiting lol
