Hi! I am looking for a pediatrician or naturopathic doc in central Phoenix. I have seen posts recommending docs in the east valley & Scottsdale, but we are more centrally located & would like a shorter trip to the doc...<br>
We see a ped now at Pediatric Associates (16th & Northern), we are doing a delayed/selective vax schedule currently & he is pretty adamant about us doing all of them eventually, which we are still not sure about. Another bothersome thing, the office hands out paperwork at each well baby visit, and there is always info included like 'Babies sometimes cry for 15-20 minutes before going to sleep' and 'Don't let your infant sleep in your bed', etc. I am just not comfortable with seeing a ped. who endorses those things, however nice he may be (and he is very nice).<br>
Is that normal, or are there docs in the valley who promote co-sleeping and are more open re. vax?<br>

I am currently looking for a central Phx doctor too.<br>

Would 19th ave and Bethany Home be central enough for you? I have yet to have my baby but my mw rec'd Tony Nagorka at Phx Pediatrics, on 19th ave north of beth home, but I don't know about the other docs in the practice. I'll ask my friend about an npd she used to see...<br><br>
My chiro highly rec'd a npd, but he's out in scottsdale.<br><br>

Have you thought about seeing a fam practice dr instead of a ped? My fam practice drs have no problems with me not vaxing, he himself is against circ, pro bfing, etc. That said I have seen the drs at PHX childrens hospital and they didn't question us abuot vaxing. But I only saw them twice, will be seeing them again shortly so I will let you know.

I have heard that before about family practice vs. peds, but I guess I just wonder about calling after hours for an emergency or question, etc. Is the family practice office knowledgable/available to deal with the oh-so-common baby & childhood issues that arise in your experience?

We went to Phx Pediatrics a few times too. I can't remember the dr's name but can get it to you if you are interested. We don't vax and he did make comments about it so you do have to be aware of that. But in the end he didn't pressure us. One of the reasons I was ok with his comments was because he was extreemely nice and good with the boys. But he did in a joking kind of way say things like, "oh you are that kind of parent that doesn't vax huh" Again, that might really bother some but I figured there aren't too many peds that won't at least comment on it. But he asked my reasons I dont vax and he said he wasn't going to try to talk me into it.<br><br>
I don't know what his stance is on the other things you mentioned because we started seeing a ND in Sun City so we stopped going.

She is great. She had a homebirth with her last child and she does home visits for homebirth babies of established patients (their family members). She didn't bat an eyelash about my kids not being vaccinated. She does schedule out about a month which is never a big deal to us b/c we don't do "well-baby" visits and you get in faster if you really need it.<br><br>
They are at Thunderbird & 32nd Street, right off the 51.<br><br>
