Hi Mommas!

We just got told that we are up for relocation to Madrid Spain in June (eek!) and my dd does not have any vaxs.

Are there required vax to live and work in Spain?
Would you suggest any vax as an expat?
Will there be issues down the line if my dd needs medical attention while we are there (which could be up to 5 years!)

I def plan on doing a more thorough investigation in the next 2 months but I thought I would throw these questions out your way...

Thanks mommas!

i don't know about spain, but i live in europe and i don't worry about those things at all. i feel the medical care is much better around here anyway.

I had to take DS to the urgent care in Spain and they never asked me if he had vaxes. That is my only experience with medical care in Spain, sorry! But I will say that they don't have the same fears over liability that we do here.

That is a great site. Do you happen to know of one that would include the UK as a destination? I imagine it would be the same as other countries, recommended but not required, but I'd like to know for sure. Thanks!

Looks like they only have recommended, not required.

No, no vaxes are required to enter UK. Not from the US anyway.
I am from the UK, I recently took my US born DD there and we were not asked for any medical documents.
maybe thats coming from the US though. Coming from a country where disease is high could be another matter........... ??

Absolutely no vaccines are required in Switzerland, Spain, Austria, Germany, UK, Netherlands, the Scandinavian countries, (maybe a few others).

Those that do require vaccines for school, require just a few. (Not that that's right, I'm just saying...it's all politics.)

Oh, I'm so jealous! Spain ROCKS, you are SO lucky!! I would *LOVE* to live in Spain again someday!!

I was there for a year, and it was splendid... and can't think of any reason why you'd want/need to start vaxing now
