With baby number one, I was seeing a great midwife at the local hospital and was going to do a waterbirth. Around 31 wks I developed PIH, and was on modified bedrest. At 32 wks I went in for a non-stress test and the hospital (I don't think my midwife wanted to) decided to call an ambulance and take me to a big hospital in the Twin Cities.....erring on the side of caution (trace protein and elevated blood pressure). Well, I didn't have time to arm myself with information about pre-eclampsia, c-section, inducing, etc. and I was hooked up to IV's, magnesium sulfate and junk for a week when they docs decided to ripen my cervix and eventually induce me (I wish I would have been in the right mind to try natural was to induce). I did go into labor and was having contractions 5 min apart, then baby showed distress and surprise, surprise I had a c-section. Our boy did have to spend some time in the NICU, but he is healthy and happy. I often wonder if the distress was due to him being little and early or being induced or both.
When #2 in on the way I want to do a VBAC and would really like a WBAC.....does anyone know of VBAC or WBAC friendly places in western wisconsin or eastern MN. Has anyone had a experience similar to mine?
