so who will do a VBAC in NOVA? i have look at the websites and called the two midwifery practices that most people seem to recommend.. and both said they do not take VBACs at all.. the home birth one said they used to but stopped recently due to more recent studies or something.... is there anyone who will do a vbac?

homebirth is my preference then a birthing center.. is there any one who will do a vbac homebirth or birthcenter birth?

i really really don't want to do a hospital birth again but if anyone has had a VBAC in a hospital and had a really incredible OB, Midwife, or Doula that was really great and encouraging ... and advocated for you please let me know..

oo i'm not pg yet btw... but ds was a happy surprise... and i don't want to be caught of guard! lol... plus i go off my medicine when i get pg and i want to make sure i have all my ducks in a row now.. before i am pg lol.

ICAN of NoVA is a great resource - for processing your c/s, for planning ahead, for being there for others on their journey, etc. We didn't have it when I was planning my VBAC, so a friend and I made it happen after I had my HBAC.

Lori Cooper took over chapter leader from me - I think she'll have 5 years (!!!) as chapter leader in January. So lucky to have such a great resource for this area. She actually prodded me to start the NoVA Homebirth group, which is a happening group and fabulous resource, too. The internet has helped with so much!

It's so neat to see what has happened in NoVA. When I was planning my HBAC, there was no NOVA mw doing such (well, I could have had a VBAC with Birth Care at their birth center only - that was their policy then, but that didn't sit well with me, and my labor was only 4 hours - not sure I would have known when to go and then it would have been too late). My mw who came from out of state because there was no one here, made it with little time to spare!

Now we have 4 mws in NoVA, serving their local communities. It's a really good thing for NoVA, all the way around.

I just walked into Birthcare today to ask about this as I'd heard conflicting info. Apparently they lost their backup OB for VBACs but found another, but this OB wanted a 6-month study on transfer rates done first, which should be done soon. They're hoping to know for sure by March, but hopefully should have an idea by next month whether this person will back them up or not... but they're very hopeful that it will work and they will be able to do VBAC's soon.

So hopefully by the time you and I are preggo w/ our next, we'll be able to use them! I've heard great things.

Call as soon as you know you're pregnant, tho, as they fill up fast. They only accept 25 births per month!
