Hi all, I am new to the forum and am in need of some information on VBACs in Houston. I am exploring my options before I get pregnant. I had my first by cesarean section 16 months ago and am determined to have a VBAC next time around. I have heard several recommendations for Dr. Beena Johnson and Dr. Larry Milner. Dr. Johnson has privileges at Memorial Hermann in The Woodlands and I am curious if anyone has had a VBAC there. What was your experience? Were they flexible with you in terms of IV, continuous fetal monitoring, laboring position, birth tub? I would really appreciate any help or recommendations. I belong to ICAN and are working with them as well. Now I am trying to get personal experiences from people out there that can tell me their story. THANKS SO MUCH IN ADVANCE.

You'd probably get more answers in the FYT Houston section. I've heard of people very successful with Beena Johnson as well as with a homebirth.

But I've even heard of a woman who had a VBAC at Women's Hospital with a perinatologist. So after that I think anything can happen.

I'm currently ttc and have already talked to my OB about doing a VBAC and she was very supportive about it. Her name is June Williams Coleman. I just loved her during my last pregnancy. I hope you get the birth you're looking for!

I don't really know how she compares to other OBs in Houston. I was referred to her from a friend. Most of the women out here go to her. She was very excited when I told her I want to do a VBAC with my next pregnancy. Her office is on I10 and Westmont I believe. Close to Uvalde. Jacinto City I think is the name of the area.

Sadly VBACs in the hospital in Houston are not really a good bet these days.

It makes me mad that it hurts your chances birthing at a hospital. Honestly, why is it that we have to birth at home in order to have the birth experience we desire?
