I just found out a friend of ours had her 3rd child VBAC. I was stunned because I've been hearing nothing but horror stories from other women around my area. I asked her what doctor she had, and she told me she went through a big practice in Akron, Ohio called Paragon. I figured I would post it here in case anyone is looking for information.

http://www.paragonobgyn.com/

That is SOO good to hear! I stumbled on this site last week and it always helps to hear good stories about places I'm checking into! Thanks so much for this post!

I've had two VBACs in Columbus, OH, but my OB only sees high-risk patients, to the best of my knowledge. It's Mark Landon, in case anyone is curious.

Mark Landon was a speaker at the latest ICAN conference in April. He's pro-VBAC and supportive of ICAN. (He still said things that one would argue with, but seems to be a good choice if you want to go that route.)

Just FYI...

If you are in the Miami Valley (Dayton, OH) area, I know Miami Valley Hospital allows VBACs. I believe there are probably two different practices that will allow them, one of which I would not use again if my life depended upon it.

OMG! Dr landon. I am surpised.
I hated him with a passion and refused to go back to him this time around.
He made me feel like an uneducated child. I know my ob said he was the 'best' but his bedside mannor made me want to kick him.

When I recorded my blood sugar levels and he read them off he said I 'better not be lying'
excuse me?
anyway. Im glad that he does have some good points and that he is for vbac, thats more than I can say about a lot of doctors.

Well, it just goes to show that everyone reacts differently to different people. I got along really well with Dr. Landon and never felt he was condescending, but that is obviously just my lone experience. Anyway, he is quite pro-VBAC as OB/GYNs go.

Thats excellent! I am really glad to hear this about him.
Our main source of conflict was that I was insistent about staying on metformin (I have pcos) and he wanted me off of it ASAP and on insulin.
My sugars were always great on metformin, so I didnt see any reason to change that. (I'd never ever had to use insulin for my sugars, and I was in non diabetic range when I got pregnant).
The thing that bothered me the most was the way he went about insisting. (he pulled the dead baby card)
Granted I was young (20) when I was pregnant with my first... but I still knew what I was talking about. I cited studies and he said they wernt good enough. Basically that he was the doctor and he knew what he was talking about. (uhh...)
So I just disregarded what he said and did what I wanted and everything was fine.
I've stayed really bitter towards him for a long time, so Im really glad I read this thread.

What are the two different practices that allows them and what's the scoop on the one you don't like?
