I have former client, who, like myself is obese, I have had a successful HVBAC, however she & I were discussing the following the other day, I was just wondering what your takes were on this & if there are any midwives or professionals that could give some advice.

Both my former client & I weigh about 300lbs. We both have had previous cesareans, I have had a successful HVBAC. However one thing she & I are concerned about, now that she brought this up to me is that her scar is much bigger than mine & others that have had c sections. Mine is about 6in long, maybe just a little longer, and hers is very long, practically from hip to hip, I'd say almost 2 feet long, and she says that it some times has about 1/2in sections that actually "open", but eventually heal. I have seen doctors cut larger incisions before, in emergency situations though, her cesarean was not an emergency, just scheduled because she was overdue, her baby was not huge, etc... She wants another child very badly, but is scared about uterine rupture & her scar opening up even more. Any suggestions anyone?

The outer scar means very little in relation to the scar on the uterus.

She needs to get her report from her section; in it it will specify what sort of cut was made, how big it was, and what sort of closure was made.
