Well Earth shoes are awesome but they are very pricey. I've actually been finding some vegan shoes at Sears lately believe it or not! They had some gorgeous vegan boots the other day, I didn't get them but I wanted too (they aren't marked as vegan but the labels indicate no animal products).

I'd love other recommendations if anyone has them.

zappos.com has a big selection of vegan shoes (that's where i got my vegan earth shoes!). alternativeoutfitters.com, and mooshoes.com are both strictly vegan (and have way more stylish shoes IMHO)

: I've never been happy with our shoe situation. DD has 2 pairs of the hemp ones HelloKitty linked to, but the fit is really awkward, and it's not because we have the wrong size (we've bought these in the past, too). They are constantly coming off. It has gotten to the point that I dread going to the park because DD cries whenever her shoes get messed up (which is often). She always wears just socks in the house, out on the patio, at music class, etc., but I can't let her go without shoes at the parks because I'm constantly finding broken glass there. With my next shoe order, I'm going to try some canvas shoes (Hanna Andersson has several styles in the spring catalog). I love the idea of these vegan ballet slippers (http://www.cynthiakingdance.com/slippers.htm), but I don't think they'd be useful for the park.

Yeah, they are cute! They were everything I was looking for - eco-friendly, vegan, flexible, and they even have a cushy "pillow" over the sole (I just wish the fit were better). I think maybe if they made a high-top version, they wouldn't fall off so easily. I'm going to try their sandals once it warms up a bit more (then again, they say it's supposed to reach 80 degrees this Friday).

I bought the green pair for dd when she was around 2yr old and they run veerrrrrrry big. i was really bummed out when i got them because she couldn't wear them. she was in a 5 or 6 at the time so that's what i bought and now she can actually fit them, and she wears a 8/9. but, even so, they don't stay up very good and she gets upset everytime they fall off her heel, so it sucks. i bought our pair for less than $20 (they were on sale but regular price was like, $20). it's disappointing to see how overpriced they are now!

i also bought her the hemp sandels that they carry, which also ran really big, and my dog chewed one of them up the FIRST day we had them. : i was soo mad. she never even got to wear them. ....oh well.

Yes, they sure do run huge! I got DD's first pair before her 1st birthday in a size 4, which was what she wore in every other shoe - they were like clown shoes. Eventually, she fit into them, but as you said, even when they do fit, the heel still falls away, which is the problem we're having now. DD wears sizes 9.5-10 in most shoes (she's a giant), but her Kid Bean shoes are size 8.

We don't have a dog though, so I still plan to try the sandals when it warms up - I'll report back. There are more non-leather/suede options in the spring/summer, I've found. More places start carrying canvas shoes. DD's favorite shoes of all-time were these Stride Rite aqua sandals made of neoprene (the surfer wet-suit material) with this pink octopus on the sole - I bought them in 3 sizes to last all season.

This is a bump, as I am having a very hard time finding anything in kids' sizes for my girls. I got two pairs of Isabooties for my younger, but my older is wearing too-small shoes. I need help!!! I am also rather particular about style. I just want something classic looking, like a black t-strap or Mary Jane.

I hate to even mention this but I just can't help myself. Any of the cheaper discount chains, like payless have vegan shoes. Not on purpose of course it's just cheaper than leather.

These are nice but they cost 50 dollars including shipping. I am probably going to end up purchasing the fish ones.
http://veganwares.com/kids.htm

Our sources for vegan kid AND adult shoes are usually either cheap stores like Payless, Converse high tops, or L.L. Bean which markets a few non-leather shoes as water-friendly. I have wide feet, which makes it ESPECIALLY hard to find anything- at one point I ordered virtually every vegan casual shoe that came in wide widths from Zappos to try to find some that fit me, and ended up with only one not-so-great pair. It's awful!

I've been trying those places. I guess I'm just picky, but I find more of their shoes to be hideous. Weird pink shoes with sliver stripes, shoes that look like they are for adults, etc. When they do have a more classic style, it's usually leather. :

I live near this store, but I have been having the hardest time getting there. The only day I can do shopping is Sunday (I work Mon-Fri and Sat is a day of religious observance for us), and they aren't open.

My older dd is past the soft shoes age anyway (she's almost 5). I hope they come out with other kids shoes.
