I'm expecting number 2 in January, and ended up using lansinoh, (although it's obviously not vegan) with my first because the Earth Mama/Angel Baby nipple cream I had was not cutting it. I figured if my nipples fell off I'd have to put my baby on formula, which would be worse than buying some lanolin, although I wasn't happy about it. Any ideas on vegan alternatives that work as well as lansinoh?

I used olive oil.<br><br>
Also putting BM and letting it airdry helps it heal faster.

Do you have an IBCLC? Nursing shouldn't result in damaged nipples. My thought would be to just correct the latch so you don't need a product.

I find that with all the hormonal changes with pregnancy and then post partum that my skin, including my nipples, gets very dry and itchy (I also get a bit of acne, lucky me). I've used the lanolin stuff occasionally, but would also like to hear some good vegan alternatives.

coconut oil. seabuckthron oil - this has omega 7s which are specifically good for mucous membranes and skin and is edible.

I second olive oil. It made baby's mouth smell like Carrabba's <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol">

I used a vegan nipple cream by Earth Mama Angel Baby. Just natural oils..it worked great. You can get it at their website. Some specialty stores may also carry it.

I am pretty sure the Northern Essence Nipple Butter is vegan. I'll double check when I get home. I do know for a fact that is does NOT contain lanolin, I just need to check on the other ingredients.
