Vegan recipes for a bread machine?

465 Views 8 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  MoonStarFalling
Does anyone have any of these? And, I found a recipe for a quinoa bread that has no milk (but just a bit of butter though), but I don't know which setting to put my machine on - dry milk or fresh milk (it only has those two) - thoughts since there's no milk in it??

TIA

I'm not sure! I usually don't use a machine when I bake bread, although I am vegan. You might try this over in Vegetarian and Vegan Living.
Oh, it's really easy. Substitute butter for oil, honey for vegan sugar, omit the milk powder... I 'm not vegan but whenever I'm on short of these, I omit/substitute these and most of the time my breads are vegan.. and they turn out good. You can even use soy milk instead of milkpowder+water combo.

This recipe has honey which you can exchange for vegan sugar.
She says the recipe works fine without the milk powder so she omitted it later.

I've tried the first recipe from the foln. link with sugar and olive oil and know it works.

Thanks for these links - can't wait to check them out! Do you know about which setting I would use (the fresh milk or dry milk)?

My machine doesn't have these settings.. So I'm just guessing here. If I use soy milk, then I'd use the fresh milk setting.

Can you tell me what your machine name and model number is...

This is one my friend made up. I've been using it for about 7 years in many different variations.

3/4 cup warm water
3 tablespoons maple syrup or blackstrap molasses
2 cups white spelt
1/3 cup whole brown spelt
1 and 1/2 table spoons olive oil
2 tsp dry yeast
Good links...I just gotttta start using my bread machine!!

Thank you
Now, would you use the "fresh milk" setting or the "dry milk" setting with this (since it has neither)? I know not everyone has that setting, but I am at a loss as to what to do because there is an hour difference between the two settings (fresh milk is an hour SHORTER).

Man I wish I knew but I've never heard of those settings! My machine had 4 settings and I think I used the whole wheat setting. I don't know how that's different though!
