I've managed to make vegan versions of many recipes (my youngest sis is vegan), but I just don't know what to use in place of buttermilk in baked goods to make them vegan. Any suggestions?

Yes! Soy milk (and cow's milk too) will actually curdle when it comes into contact with fruit juice or fruit syrups too. I think you can also mak "buttermilk" with lemon juice, but the ACV just appeals to the former buttermilk drinker in me.
