this may sound weird but...

Is velour the same as velvet?

In french, velour is the translation for velvet.

nope! Velvet is a woven fabric without any stretch and velour is knit fabric that is stretchy. (at least that's my understanding)

There's great 80-20 velour at Fabricland by the way... works GREAT in diapers! Just watch because some of their velour is 100% poly.
