So today was a sunny day and Dd (2yo) and I decide to go to Home Depot to get some potting soil and some bedding plants. (Dh couldn't come as he has been working OT and has not been able to help at ALL around the house for the last 2 months, so everything has to be done by me. But thats another vent...)

I'm 8mo preggy.

So Dd and I do our browsing and I pick up and load by myself, 2- 52L BIG bags of soil as well as 16 bedding plants into my buggy. While I'm browsing, I notice that there is another preggy lady there with her husband/partner. She's slender and I figure she's about 6mo along judging from the size of her bump.

Anyways, they end up ahead of me at the till. The lady is making small talk, and I overhear the cashier, an older lady, ask them if they needed any help to load their car. They had bought about 8 medium sized bags of soil. They decline the offer, and the preggy lady said something about "can't imagine shopping with a toddler in tow". So there's some more small talk, and social nicities exchanged, meanwhile there's a line up forming behind me.

I figured, hey, the cashier offered the preggy couple help to get their stuff in their car, she'll offer to get help for me too!

NOPE!!

Instead, I don't even get a hello, the cashier just rung up my total, I paid, and nothing else was said to me! I was irritated that she didn't offer to get help for me, and so I didn't request it either (which I guess in hindsight was stupid of me).

I was just irked that here this couple was, young, healthy, with a man to do the loading for the couple, being offered help, and here I was, older, VERY obviously preggy, with a toddler, and large bags (easily 40+lbs each) that I had to load into my car by myself.

Grrrrrrrrrrr........:

I'm sorry!! Some people are so inconsiderate. Maybe she honestly didn't notice? Not too likely, but.....Were you wearing baggy clothes or anything? Who knows.

Call and complain to the manager.I did that once when I was treated rudely at Wally-world.I received a very sincere apology.Since I've been in there they've been a whole lot nicer.

My guess is she made an assumption, a judgement, and not a very good one either.: Some people are really, really inconsiderate. If you're assertive, call the store to make a complaint.

I've always wondered how cashiers can be really chatty with one customer, and then clam up with the next.

I had a similar thing happen at the airport.
A seemingly able bodied couple on the same plane with a over 2 year old in a stroller.
The gate agent carried their small bag onto the plane while the husband pushed their DD in a stroller and pregnant lady just breezed on.

Me I felt like I must have been invisible, but how could that be I'm pregnant 6/7 mouths pregnant, have a toddler in a wrap and a carry on and diaper bag all on my 4 11 frame: Traveling alone as well.I guess I must have looked extremely self sufficient.
I swear I was so weighted down I was going to sink through the floor.
