We watched the new Pink Panther movie over the weekend and after the scene where Insp. Clouseau is planning to have sex with Beyonce and wrecks the hotel bathroom because his Viagra fell down the drain, I turned to dh and said:

"That is just SO ridiculous".

Him: What? That Beyonce would ever think about sex with Steve Martin?

Me: No, that Inspector Clouseau would need Viagra! The French don't circumcize, so there's practically no market for any of that stuff there. This movie was obviously written by an American man who has no clue!*

So, yeah, guess this topic is always on my mind.

(*And it was, Steve Martin, and a guy named Len Blum)

Actually there is something of a market here in Britain at least.

That said the men who are the main demographic market are probably just old enough to be late victims of British RIC.

But to say that there is no market at all is a little innaccurate.

Well, my father was born 1943 in TX (about 45 minutes away from Waco) and was not circed.

However, when my GM was asked why she didn't do it, her response was a somewhat shameful admission that she just never got around to taking him in. (It wasn't done in hospitals at that time...)

So you can't really assume, but it was very common threre at that time...

I said "not much of a market", not "no market". There's a difference. I'm sure that there are some men there who are circ'd and have ED, but it's nowhere near the number of men in the US.

Hmm...Perhaps that is just through sheer mass rather than proportion though?

Because it is sort of culturally engrained over here in Britain at least... Does anyone have statistics on this one?

Early in the movie, check him out in his white undies in the bedroom scene w/ Mary Steenburgen just before their daughter comes in saying she's sick.

The scene before (IIRC) has a nude 3-year-old Zachary Lavoy (their son) and his status is shown.
