Vitamin C to infant

498 Views 6 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  3703
How do I give Vitamin C to a breastfed infant? hH is 3 months old and about 80 lbs. He is healthy, but I *may* start vaccinating hin in a couple of months and want to load up on the vitamin C and anything else that may help prior to the vaxes, if he gets them.

From what I have read, I am thinking 40-100mg/day.

Do I buy powder or liquid? Can I get it from a place like Vitamin World or a pharmacy or is it a special order thing?

Sorry for the stupid questions, I know most of you on this board are vets with this stuff but I am just getting started and appreciate any help.

Sodium ascorbate. It's a powder. But honestly its a tiny possible help if you're considering vaxing- injecting tons of poisions.

Hello and welcome!

The best way to ensure your babe gets enough vitamin C is thru your diet. I wouldn't give any supplements (ascorbic acid or any of that sort).
There is a berry called Amla - it's an Indian gooseberry. It has the most concentration of vitamin C out of any plant existing on this planet. You can do your research on it, just google thru the web. If you take it as a supplement, your son will too. It's a great immune booster. Just watch out for allergic reactions.

Also, I would like to mention that mothering.com is pretty much anti-vaccination and I'm sure you will get a lot of comments on that. It's important to do the intense research on vaccinations and make a decision whether or not you want to go ahead with that. However, don't make people guilt you into doing it OR not doing it. It should be your decision.

Awesome! I take Amla from Pure Planet. It's called Amla C Plus, because it also has some Spirulina in it.
