I take a magnesium citrate supplement in the evening. Before I started this I took a cal-mag-zinc combo, but stopped because I thought the magnesium oxide in the pill was making my gut more "gurgly" and stool looser than my mag citrate. Now I am wondering if it is a good idea to have a combo. I have been noticing comments that combining calcium and mag at the same time is not a good idea. Although I know that they work together in the body for bone health, should I be taking them at separate times?
Oh and how about potassium?

It's not a "bad" idea to combine the cal and mag, it just means if you are mag deficient (and most are) that you aren't going to get much usable mag that way. I don't love multivites in general, but if I was going to take one I would still personally supplement mag at night.

They are both needed for bone health as is potassium, vitamin D and a host of other things.
