My 3yo can't articulate anything. He tries very hard to talk but mainly says n and d sounds. He's been getting speech therapy for about six months but there is little improvement. The main difference is that he is willing to try saying more things, but he still can't articulate anything.

His speech therapist thinks he might have VPI (velopharyngeal insufficiency) which, from my reading online, seems to be related to cleft palate.

So is there anyone out there whose child had VPI? How did it present? What symptoms did they have and when/how was it diagnosed? I'm kind of going crazy because I can't get ds in to see the specialist for at least two weeks.
