My oldest son just informed me that he wants to get a doll for his birthday (end of February) I have friends that have the dolls seen in Nova Natural, but they just don't really appeal to me (sorry to those that own). Can anyone recommend someone...either from one of the more well known natural toy shops online or maybe an etsy shop.

Thanks!

My favorites are these. They are reasonably priced, handmade, adorable, and she can customize them any way you want. She created several sweet mini babies for me to give as gifts and an owl that I treasure. I loved working with her!

http://www.etsy.com/shop/PolarBearCreations

http://www.polarbearcreations.com/

I highly recommend "Dragonflys Hollow" on Etsy. I bought one of her 12" dolls for my daughter for her 2nd birthday and the craftsmanship is excellent. She is really busy right now and doesn't really have anything instock, but here is a link to her sold items - http://www.etsy.com/shop_sold.php?us...&order=&page=1

I really like the one we have from Pampa Toys. They don't sell directly but I think they can tell you where the nearest retailer is to you. One of my favorite parts about these dolls is that they are cuddly. We have one from another Waldorf-inspired Doll company and it's just stuffed so hard.

http://www.pampatoys.com.ar/Det/det_mun/det_D1000.htm

I forgot about this! I ended up making my son a doll using Joy's pattern. It was such a wonderful experience and now I am making one for ds2 who's birthday is in a couple of weeks. It is not nearly as hard as I thought it would be (and I had no sewing experience what so ever!). I highly recommend it! My son absolutely loves his doll and I truly believe it is because I made it with my own two hands!

I have a question about how these dolls hold up...

How do you clean them? How do they hold up to multiple cleanings? Can they tolerate being outdoors in all weather, rained on, in the dirt, sand, salt air? Or are they indoor only toys?

It seems like a big investment to get one... and they are beautifully crafted... but if a little one gets attached and wants to bring the doll everywhere --- and you lead an outdoor oriented life, I would be worried about a $100++ doll getting dragged through the great outdoors and then becoming rags.

Thoughts?
