I am really interested in starting this with my 7mo. We just went to a group this past monday but it is a bit far and early for us.

We live in Walnut Creek and I was wondering if anyone knows of anything closer than East bay waldorf school (which is great and we will probably end up there eventually

I thought maybe someone is doing groups out of their home of something.

Hey!

I don't know of any but let me know if you find out. I'm in Concord and would love to go to something like that. Right now, we go to a Music Together class. Have you done that?

Also, you are nice and local! And our DD's are close in age. Any interest in meeting at a park, perchance?

Hi! I was researching Waldorf options for our area for one of our upcoming Holistic Moms meetings on holistic education.. so I'll give you what I found.

I don't know of a Waldorf playgroup; I'm a member of two homeschool groups in the area and haven't heard of one out there. But here's some resources I found that might lead you to one:

First, here's a website called Bay Area Waldorf Resources...http://www.bawr.net/

And here are the waldorf schools in the Bay Area that I found:

http://www.eastbaywaldorf.org/ (El Sobrante)

http://www.waldorfpeninsula.org/ (Los Altos)

http://www.greenwoodschool.org/index.htm (Mill Valley)

http://www.novatocharterschool.org/ncsx/index.htm (this one is cool – a Waldorf charter school (e.g. FREE!) in Marin Cty).

Also, just curious, have you heard of Reggio Emilia? It's kind of an "unschooling" type of school. Pretty neat philosophy, I think! There are two preschools in the area that use this philosophy, The Old Firehouse Schools (Walnut Creek and Lafayette) and Room to Grow in Livermore.

HTH!!

Warmly,
Katherine
