I'm not totally sure if this should go here or where, but here it is.

I love nursing my 12 month old. She loves to nurse. She had cut down to nursing just once a day, but in the last few weeks, the frequency picked up again. She nurses for about 20-30 minutes first thing in the morning, and then will "snack" throughout the day.

I'm starting to feel as though she sees me as nothing more than a giant walking boob. She will play with my DH, or sit and cuddle with him, but it feels as though the minute I think about touching her, she wants to nurse. She will paw at my shirt, wanting to nurse, anytime she can reach - so any time I'm sitting down anywhere near her.

She doesn't nurse for more than a minute or two, so I don't think she's nursing out of hunger. She seems to want to nurse regardless of her mood, so I don't know that it's out of comfort.

It's really really really frustrating, and I wish I could be Mommy, not a walking boob!

Please tell me that this is just a phase...

Wow, you feel like a WHOLE BOOB?! I'm just a nipple! My son is 2 1/2 and I still get this feeling. Deep down, I am sure that it is more than that, but I can relate to you. I have heard many women say that this doesn't really go away until after weaning. No advice here, really, just a "me, too!"

My DD went through this, too. I've read that it's common in the 2nd year and lasts until 21-22 months; varies of course depending on when they start the nurse-aholic phase. Hang in there! I remember how tough those days were.
