I hope this is the proper forum; I wasn't sure where else to post.<br><br>
We have several walnut trees on campus and the walnuts go to waste every year (other than what the squirrels eat). I've never harvested them before though and don't know the first thing about going about it. When are they ready? How do you get the green things off? Do they need to dry after that? In the oven or in the sun? TIA!

they will fall off the tree and crack, get the husks off and then wash the outer casing of the nuts, then dry before storing. do it all with gloves, cos they stain real bad
