I'm looking for a good waldorf style doll-making book and I can't decide what to order. Any reviews or suggestions?

I have a pattern from Magic Cabin and I've made a few 16" dolls, and now I'm looking for something that describes how to make some other styles of dolls, dollhouse dolls in particular.

TIA

I love Jean Ray Laury's Doll Making: A Creative Approach, and her book Handmade Toys and Games also has some great doll ideas...

I also really like The Children's Year by Stephanie Cooper and Toymaking With Children by Freya Jaffke

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the reply! I will look for those books. I still haven't bought anything because I can't afford all the books I want and I can't make up my mind which one to order. I have been looking at The Children's Year, that one is definitely on my wish list.

yeah, it took me a long while to find a used copy of the children's year at a low price! but the jean ray laury ones are AMAZING, and i got both of them online pretty cheap. one caveat -- i like the freya jaffke, but it's my least favourite -- and if you get the children's year, you don't need that one.

have fun!

KinderDolls is an excellent Waldorf dollmaking book. It has instructions for all kinds/sizes of dolls. I just finished my first 16" Magic Cabin kit doll, too. I went between the instructions that came with the kit and this book, which has many more hairstyles. It does have dollhouse sized dolls also, though I haven't made any of those yet. Lots of clothes patterns in there, too. A little pricey if you can't find it used, but definitely worth it.
