What is a kid song that makes you cry?

I just found this one and I cry every time I hear it! I love Sweet Honey in the Rock!

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...89705?v=glance

I cry whenever I hear The Boxer (Simon and Garfunkle), especially if I try to sing along. It's the part that starts with "In the clearing stands a boxer..." that gets me every time...

New York State of Mind. I was born and raised in NY and had just moved home, after a few years living in VA, in August of 2001. I was pregnant that summer/fall and my favorite uncle was dying. I went into a state of emotional shock after 9/11 and the one song that broke me and led me into my healing grief was New York State of Mind. I'll be forever grateful to Billy Joel for that.

And, even though I'm a Long Islander, I was never really that big a Billy Joel fan. :

My two favorite songs as a child were "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" and "Puff, the Magic Dragon".

Now that I have children, I hate "Puff, the Magic Dragon". It hits way to close too home and I tear up just thinking about the words. Like now.

Puff used to make me all teary eyed. Over the years, I have heard kids completely butcher the song so many times trying to sing it at kareoke (sp) that it no longer has that effect on me.

But it really is a nice song.

Right after DD#1 was born, someone gave me a CD of Raffi's Baby Beluga. I would sit and nurse dd and listen to the song "Thanks a lot" and the tears would just stream down my face...The line about "thanks for the way I feel" was particularly apt.

Then when I was pg with dd#2, I could never, ever get through Joni Mitchell's Circle Game without completely losing it. A bunch of us from our Quaker meeting like to get together and sing, and that song is always a particular favorite, but I officially banned it from the repertoire when I was pregnant, because I knew I would never make it through. Now it's not as bad, depending on what kind of general mood I'm in...

I'm with Mia on Circe Game.

But, and this is truly embarrassing, I get all weepy when I hear the theme song from Clifford's Puppy Days... love makes little things grow...

It's leftover from my 2nd pregnancy which co-incided with DD's Clifford obsession.

As a proud Canadian I as a rule can't stand Celine Dion, but I just bought some cds off a mama here and she included Celine Dion's new children's cd Miracle, well, the song that has "you're the reason I was born" in it throws me right over the edge--I haven't been able to listen to it again :LOL

Theres a song by George Canyon taht is about a still birth baby from the baby's point of view, such a beautiful song--I heard it for the first time while driving and I had to pull over.
