For myself... I believe I have somehow managed to get one on the bottom of my big toe (right at the joint, and it is really rather painful). Not sure if it could be anything else... It's been a few weeks now (was hoping it was a callous or would go away
)
I know if I schedule an appt with my GP they'll just give me a referral to a podiatrist and I will have to wait a bit longer.
Should I go that route, or is there a natural remedy to this problem?

I had occasional warts on my fingertips. Classical homeopathy and none since. I believe there are some natural antifungals which help also. Google "alternative treatment wart" and you'll find a bunch of alternatives.

Googling it I found warts are a form of HPV, so now I am freaking out

ETA: Now not so freaked out about the HPV... But under further research, I have poked at it and now am worried I inadvertently may have caused it to spread. I am just leaving it be and going to my GP tomorrow as a walk-in o_o

I'm currently putting a small piece of banana peel on my plantar wart secured tightly with a band-aid. I read about this on a MDC forum. So far it has just started to itch a little. Other remedies I've read are Tea Tree oil or duct tape. Maybe do a search for plantar wart in this forum. HTH.

plantar warts don't spread as easily as regular warts do, from what i've read. i was doing the banana peel for awhile but decided to wait for warmer weather because my feet are cold enough as it is without sticking wet cold banana peels on them. definitely do a search and see what treatments are most appealing to you.

Paint on a couple of layers of fingernail polish and then cover with duct tape. My doc (yep a regular gp) recommended this after months - yes months of weekly liquid nitrogen treatments with my previous doc. (She moved and her replacement suggested the nail polish). IIRC, it took about 2 weeks - I think I replaced the duct tape a couple of times and added new polish as needed. It was so easy that I was really mad at the hours and hours of wasted time (not to mention healthcare dollars) for the "traditional" liquid nitrogen treatment.

Sounds really interesting.... My husband has few circular small warts on his neck, I want to try your technique, but how did you do that? Did you put new layer of nail polish and duct tape every day?

I've also tried putting apple cider vinegar on a bandaid and putting that over the wart. It worked, and the wart fell off, but it came back later.

The only thing I've gotten to work successfully (and not have the wart come back) are the Dr. Scholl's clear away wart remover.

Good luck!

Whenever the duct tape worked itself off, I added a layer of polish and new duct tape. This was only for a plantar's wart on my foot though, so I'm not sure how it works on other warts in other locations. Good luck!

Saw the nurse at my GP today. It is a plantar wart, and she referred me to the podiatrist. She also laughed when I told her about the duct tape ideas and said yes, that actually works and I can try it if I want as it is pretty much the same thing the podiatrist does, just at home (hubby found a method of crushing aspirin and mixing it with vaseline and duct taping it to the wart, and we also mentioned the nail polish one). So I am seeing the podiatrist tomorrow (they got me in quick o_O) and will see what they recommend.

I want to also add... When the nurse came into the room I was breastfeeding DD. In the past, I have had other doctors or nurses walk back out to 'allow us to finish' or whatever. She sat right down and was thrilled I was BFing and told me she has 3 grandchildren (3 yrs, 18 months, and 8 days) and her daughter -refuses- to BF and how much she wishes she could knock some sense into her and that BF is wonderful. We had a great talk about it while DD nursed before she looked at my foot

My oldest DD (11 years old) had completely intractable large plantar's warts on the sole of one foot. Gads, we did three acid treatments at the dermatologist and finally she had in-office cauterizing and cutting the warts out of her foot, which left two very deep holes. UGH. It took many many days to heal. Guess what? The frigging things grew right back! I cannot imagine how either, since those holes were DEEP and there was nothing left of the warts.

Crap, I'm ready to try nail polish and duct tape. We've almost paid for a new Mercedes for the dermatologist.

My DH read a book about old Native American medicine and it said to use Verbascum thapsus (Mullein). He took the flowers and crushed them and rubbed them on his warts for a week or so and they were gone. There are many types of mullein and they grow wild everywhere, but this is the one he used:

Went to the podiatrist. She put on an acid treatment and said to let it sit for 2 days. Then she wants me to use duct tape and visualization (imaging it being gone) until my next appt. Then we'll repeat and see if it is working. If it does respond, then she wants me to consider having it cut out and she says it will be pretty painless at is it small (2 mm) :\ She offered to cut it out today, but I just couldn't do it

Hopefully the duct tape and visualization will work

Breastmilk! It really does work. My husband had two stubborn warts that kept coming back no matter what he did. I read about it in Mothering magazine I think....so every night I would put breastmilk on some gauze and he would hold it on there maybe 10-20 minutes. In a couple of weeks they were GONE and haven't come back for almost 3 years. He was shocked! He'd been trying to get rid of those suckers for so long, and was using really toxic, painful methods, too!

My vote is for raw apple cider vinegar. I treated a nickel sized wart on DH's foot with vinegar soaked gauze, taped over it overnight for a week.

This was a year ago and it hasn't returned.
