Okay, so I just start cloth diapering today, and I have a big question. When you wash the diapers do you just do them all together? Whites and colors? Don't the colors bleed?

I just started CDing, too. Should I wash prefolds in HOT or COLD water? What about the covers? I thought that cold would keep the colors from running, but hot may get the diapers cleaner.

I always wash on hot to kill germs. If I get a new dipe I'll wash it with dark clothes a couple of times before use just to be safe.

This newbie still has more questions <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile"><br><br>
Can you wash other clothes with the diapers?<br><br>
With the hot water, is detergent necessary?<br><br>
And if y'all use a 'cleaning agent', which do you recommend?<br><br>
I saw one post that said add a few drops of tea tree oil for fresh smelling diapers.... any thoughts?
