Okay, so we have been doing the BG 2.0's for a few months. First let me tell you how I wash them;

A hot rinse and drain
Hot wash with 1-2 tbsp Purex F&C
At least one cold rinse (sometimes 2)

They always start stinking right when he pees in them?!? He smells like a hamster cage, it is gross! Tonight I tried two hot rinses and noticed a lot of suds, am I using too much soap? Could that cause stink? We are just in the process of switching over to all cloth (before baby #2 arrives) and I don't want to scare DH off by the stench! HELP!

I will try and be of some help though I dont use bGs and am newer to CDing myself. Most recommend a cold rinse to start to get stains out, then a hot wash with 1/2 the recommended amount of soap. Extra soap = residue = stink when combined with urine. There are quite a few threads about stripping diapers (washes, boiling, dishwasher) so you might want to check those out. HTH! I know what you mean about scaring off DH!

Could it be the Purex? I am not sure...

I do:
Cold wash with All F&C
Hot wash with no detergent
Dryer cycle on low heat

and haven't had any problems yet (about 3 months).

Hope you can figure it out!

Could they need to be stripped?

First I would strip the diapers and inserts to see if that solves the problem. If it doesn't than I would do...
cold rinse
hot wash with a tablespoon or so of bleach
3 or so cold or warm rinses
I know alot of people don't use bleach on their diapers but I do it occasionally and it really seems to help. Just be sure to rinse, rinse, rinse afterwards.

I would try some sort of stripping. Either with lots of hot washes with no detergent, or (and/or) washing with a small amount of original Dawn (non-ultra). I use BG's and used to alternate between Purex F&C and Dawn in my regular wash routine, but started noticing that I would get stinks and leaks after only using the Purex for a week. So now I use Dawn exclusively

I know Purex usually gets recommended as being OK for pocket dipes, but I noticed that mine says "Improved! For Whiter Whites!!" or something like that on the bottle, so I wonder if they recently added brighteners or some other nasty stuff that is causing problems.

Oh, also, I recently did an extra wash with a little bit of bleach for JUST my inserts, and I think that worked great. I plan on doing that every couple of months if I feel the need, but don't think I need to take the risk of bleaching the PUL outers. So if you think you might want to take a chance on some bleach, I suggest starting with just the inserts and see how much that helps first.
