Hello. I often read these boards, but this is my first post! I'm hoping someone can help me with a diaper laundering question. I wash my toddlers diapers myself, but I use a diaper service for my 7 week old. I'm thinking of washing them all myself, but I don't know if it's a good idea to wash the "real" poopy toddler diapers with the baby ones. I don't soak my toddler diapers, I just wash them every 3 days (seems to be fine on his bottom) and I'd really like to avoid the whole soaking process, as I have a front loading washing machine and soaking seems like it would be a real pain. Does anyone have any experience with this and if so, could you offer me some suggestions? I don't want to make my life revolve around washing diapers, yet I hate to pay for the diaper service!! Thanks.

hi and welcome!
i have a 34 month daughter and a 5 month son. i wash both of their diapers together.
you will find when you have two, you will have to wash more often than 3 days just because you wont be able to fit it all in the washer if you dont. i wash about every day and a half or so.
when my daughter poos, i just shake it off and use a piece of toilet paper to wipe off whatever chunks dont come off with shaking. then i dry pail everything all together.
when i am ready to wash, i dump everything in the washer and do a cold wash with detergent.
then i do a hot wash with a couple drops of tea tree oil, and sometimes a bit of white vinegar.
then i dry them.
this seems to work for us!
good luck!

Zoe was almost 3 and still in dipes when Ariel was born. I always washed them together.

I have a frigidaire gallery front loader. I do a couple of prewashes on cold (no detergent) to rinse the poop out, and then wash on hot w/extra rinse.

One option is to store the poopy dipes separately and prewash them once (in the machine) before doing the second cold prewash w/the rest of the dipes.

Currently, I hand rinse the poopy dipes in the laundry sink (wearing rubber gloves) as I load the washer. Toddler poop stains are no longer a problem, as long as it's sunny out!
