and I was thinking... "WHAT KIND OF MOTHER IS MRS. POTTS?!" She didn't even notice that Chip had ran away with Belle. Aaaand, if all the little teacups are her kids, why isn't she taking care of them, too?! Any thoughts on this????? OH, and why doesn't Lumiere burn up the dust mop? WTF? :

Does anyone else think that Beast was way sexier before he turned back into the prince?

ITA, AdinaL, he was way better as the Beast. As a prince, he was kind of wimpy.

But Lisa, if Mrs. Potts was watching her children, she wouldn't have time to sing. And then Chip wouldn't have been able to be a hero!

Actually, I've noticed that a lot of children's stories have absent parents. Peter Pan, Wizard of Oz, the Series of Unfortunate Events books, Harry Potter, Lord of the Flies (that's not so much children's). Parents get in the way of the story line. Those were always my favorites, tho!

Julia doesn't like when he turns back into a prince...she wants him to stay as the beast. Do you guys know that Jerry Orbach from Law and Order does Lumiere's voice? I told dh that and he didn't believe me. And when Beast tells Belle not to go in the west wing I think nutty things like...cause they are filming the new season in there...or Martin Sheen doesn't like to be disturbed...I am insane.

I agree, Beast was much more attractive before he turned into a man. And have yo noticed that all of the cartoons feature him as the Beast?

I was so disappointed with the prince. Beast was much more interesting. The little boy behind us in the theater voiced the same thought, "Hay, what happened to the beast??""

After my 4yo ds saw Beauty & the Beast, he was going around the house singing, "kill the beast, kill the beast!" And he was imitating the fight between the beast and Gaston using his toys. And talking about how Gaston hurt the beast with a knife. Thanks a lot, Disney. : We're done with that video.

Here is what I didn't get:

In the beginning of the story, when the prince turned away the old lady, he was only 11 years old! (He had been the Beast for 10 years, and Belle entered the story in his 21st year.) So, I wonder, why did she inflict such a harsh punishment on an 11-year-old? And why did she ask him if she could stay at the castle, instead of his parents? Where were his parents? Did he just live there by himself with a bunch of servants?

Also, what about the rest of the townspeople? Did they even notice the prince was gone? I mean, he was this rich guy who owned a bunch of land, and then suddenly he is gone. You'd think someone would have come looking for him.

And Mrs. Potts is an old lady. She looks like she is 70 or 80. So how is it she has a little boy who looks like he's 5 or 6?

What about the servants' family members? Their parents and stuff, who don't live at the castle? Were they just like, "Oh, OK, he's turned into a candle." :
