I have just discovered water kefir, and have finished my first batch after rehydrating the grains I ordered. One thing I can't seem to find out is if the alcohol content in water kefir is enough to worry about during pregnancy. I'm 23 weeks pregnant and to me it doesn't seem like enough to do any harm, but I am so new to it that I don't know. I only fermented the sugar water for 24 hours, then it went right in the fridge. I mixed some pomegranate juice in with it and just had my first 1/2 glass. I really like the taste of it, but the slight smell of alcohol is throwing me off a bit. I just want to make sure it's ok to drink while pregnant (a glass or two a day) and that it's ok to give to my 2 year old because it seems like the health benefits are tremendous!
