So I took a test, a line started to show up(I think). Then a drop of water got on the plastic around the test. I am not sure if it got ON the test or not. If it did, would that cause a false positive?

I don't really know, but i am going to guess no. The test measures hcg, so i'd guess it would only be activated by the presence of it.

I'm not an expert, but I don't see how water, especially one drop, could cause a false positive. That is, unless the water in question contained hCG. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/winky.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Wink"> I always bought those boxes of 3 tests though and used all of them if the first was positive to be extra sure. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/redface.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Embarrassment">

I don't think that water would cause a false positive. If anything, I think that it would dilute the urine and maybe casue a false negative. Crossing my fingers for you.

I really don't see how water could cause a line, it might cause a blur or something, but to get the line you need the HcG!
