Hey veteran waterbirthers, I have one remaining question (for now LOL)...

After birth is all said and done, how do you get the water out? I'm picturing a bailing bucket, but I'm sure there's got to be an easier way!!! :

TIA-
Our MWs' tub includes a pump. We set it in the bottom of the tub with a garden hose going out, down the hall, and into the shower. Before running the pump, all...um...chunks were scooped out with a large aquarium net.

A little sump pump, according to my husband. He drained it into our flower beds.

We used a pump. Many people use a siphon or a faucet attachment for draining waterbeds.

Sorry for the ignorance, never had a waterbed before... can you find these things at a home depot or would it be a furniture store?

TIA- Katie

The homebirth board has a sticky describing many methods people use.

We used a drill-powered pump for the first one, we got that at Home Depot. It was cheap, but also slow and required someone to sit there holding the trigger on the drill.

For the 2nd one, we used the Python aquarium siphon tool, which we got at Petsmart for about $7. It worked well, was reasonably speedy, and didnt require much attention. Did use a lot of water, though.
